Lafrance Hospitality

Enhancing Guest Comfort Through Smarter Energy Management

Challenge

Lafrance Hospitality is a multi-generational hospitality management company with hotels, restaurants, and event venues across New England. Guest experience remains central to every operational decision, reflecting its longstanding reputation for quality service and guest satisfaction.

At the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the operations team faced a common hospitality challenge: reduce energy consumption and improve facility performance without compromising guest comfort. Aging room controls and building systems limited visibility into energy use and created missed opportunities for efficiency improvements. Continuing down that path risked higher operating costs, unnecessary energy consumption, and reduced control over critical guest room environments.

Having helped organizations improve energy efficiency while preserving the occupant experience, Mantis worked with the hotel team to identify a practical path forward that supports guest comfort and operating performance.

Solution

Mantis developed a focused modernization strategy designed to improve operational control, energy efficiency, guest comfort, and long-term facility performance.

The approach centered on three key steps:

  1. Upgrade lighting systems to improve visibility and efficiency.
  2. Implement an Energy Management System (EMS) across guest rooms.
  3. Integrate room controls with the existing Property Management System for centralized oversight.

By connecting all in-room thermostats to a unified platform, the hotel gained granular control over HVAC operations while maintaining the comfort guests expect. The result was a smarter, more responsive facility that supported day-to-day hospitality operations and improved energy management.

Results

The project helped Lafrance Hospitality avoid ongoing costs and inefficiencies caused by disconnected building systems, while creating a more efficient operating environment and delivering measurable financial returns.
