Upgrading aging heating systems to reduce operating cost

Challenge

RSCC, a wire and cable manufacturer, was not operating under efficient conditions due to outdated heating systems. They partnered with Mantis to upgrade the system while not interrupting operations on the production floor.

Solution Mix

Mantis designed a solution that reused a significant portion of the system so that operations would not be interrupted. The design also qualified for significant incentive. Mantis managed the total project, installing four new rooftop heaters to replace the existing steam generator and heat exchanger.

Results

The new system saves over $50,000 per year and pays back within three years. An additional benefit of this new heating system is the ability to take in 100% cooler outside air at night during the spring, fall, and even summer seasons to precool the building, providing a more comfortable environment during the day.
