Dan Marzuola brings over thirty years of experience in the energy industry spanning retail and wholesale energy sales, marketing, engineering, and government relations. Marzuola spent 14 years with TXU in various positions from a System Planning Engineer to the General Manager of a natural gas distribution system in Mexico. During his time with TXU, he was appointed by the Governor of Texas as a member of the Oil and Gas Compact Commission. After leaving TXU he strengthened his tenure in the energy industry as an energy executive, with stints that included 7 years with Hudson Energy as the Senior Vice President of North America Sales and the General Manager of the United Kingdom operations. Marzuola holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Southern Methodist University and an MBA.
Kris Hertel brings over 25 years of sales and marketing experience to EMEX, including 19 years in retail energy. Prior to joining EMEX, Hertel served as Chief Sales Officer for North American Power-Business until the company was sold to Calpine in 2017. Other leadership positions include Chief Marketing Officer at Circular Energy and Vice President of North American Commercial Markets at Hudson Energy. Before joining Hudson Energy, Hertel held various leadership positions in commercial direct and indirect sales for Direct Energy and TXU Energy. Kris is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.
President, Patriot Energy
As President of Patriot Energy, Steve is responsible for the overall growth strategy for the business. Previously, as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Patriot Energy Group, Steve was responsible for the company’s Finance and Operations Functions, with primary responsibility for the company’s finance and accounting, financial planning, treasury, back-office operations as well as facilities management. Campbell has over thirty years of experience as a finance executive in public and private software companies ranging from Raytheon, IBM Software Division, Genuity, Enterasys Networks, Juniper and Progress Software. A results-oriented financial professional, Steve has a depth of expertise in financial reporting, financial planning, and analysis, Sales and Marketing Operations, Back Office process improvements, performance management, mergers and acquisitions, and building high-performance teams. Steve received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Financial Management from Franklin Peirce University and a master’s degree in business from Franklin Peirce University.
As President of BLUEFIN, Jeremiah Dancy oversees the day-to-day management of the company’s operations. With 24 years of experience in construction and facility asset management, Dancy is a technical expert in facility planning, design, installation, and maintenance. Dancy ensures BLUEFIN’s projects are executed safely, on time, and on budget. He also directs professional development for the company’s teams as well as individual training and mentorship programs, Dancy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Technology Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Strategy Officer
As Chief Strategy Officer for Mantis Innovation Group, Rast oversees overall company strategy including branding as well as product and service development. He maintains key client relationships and provides guidance on potential acquisitions. Tactically, he helps large commercial and institutional clients design and implement asset management, cost estimation, and sustainability programs. Rast has more than 40 years of experience in facility construction and 30 years of experience as an owner and manager of several firms. Richard Rast founded BLUEFIN in 2005 and served as CEO until August of 2019. A graduate of Georgia Tech, he holds two U.S. Patents for information technology applications related to asset management and facility project development.
Chief Technology Officer
Rad Brannan brings over 15 years of energy and information technology experience, including 10 years in an executive management position. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of Business Information Systems for Just Energy where he led the global IT strategy and delivery for the following business units: commercial, supply, structuring and finance. During his tenure with Just Energy, he architected, implemented and evolved Hudson Energy’s industry-leading broker portal, Connex. Brannan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Information and Operations Management from Texas A&M University.
Kevin McAlpin brings over 20 years of combined legal and risk experience to Mantis Innovation Group. McAlpin’s expertise includes general corporate law, complex energy product transactions, regulatory affairs and compliance issues, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, contract negotiations, and business management. He previously worked in executive and legal counsel roles for Just Energy, Standard Renewable Energy, and ExxonMobil. McAlpin is a graduate of The Citadel and holds an MBA from the University of Mississippi, as well as a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Corporate Counsel Association.
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO of Mantis Innovation Group, Kurt Keller brings over 20 years of accounting and finance experience with a focus in the energy industry. Keller’s work experience includes 10 years in power generation development and operations, seven years in Big Four Consulting and two years in wholesale gas marketing. Keller received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Baylor University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations.

As Director of Human Resources, Cheryll Hughes brings over 30 years of human resources and executive administration experience in manufacturing organizations. Hughes’ work experience includes 7 years with Yaskawa-Solectria Renewables, 10 years with Azure Dynamics and 12 years with Thermo Fisher Scientific/KeyTek Instruments. Hughes earned her Certificate in Human Resource Management from Northern Essex Community College. She also holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certifications.

As Chief Human Resources Officer, Janet McCracken develops and disseminates the internal brand promise, empowers and supports employee growth, and executes a strategic workforce growth plan. McCracken has 36 years of experience in executive training, human resources, sales, marketing, and organizational and talent development. Her specialties include the management of recruiting, employee relations, developing employee training curriculums, corporate acquisitions and mergers, as well as sales and marketing strategy.
